Maureen is the type of mom I strive to be!! Be honest, how many of yall get your Christmas cards out before Thanksgiving?? In her initial message to me she asked if I had availability to take her family photos because she usually gets her Christmas cards out before Thanksgiving!! Those of you that get Christmas cards out or even ordered before Thanksgiving get a gold star in my book!!! I am lucky if I even have a photo of my family together by thanksgiving, let along decide on a card and have it ordered by Christmas, for me, that is winning!!! 

Maureen, Art, their two youngest boys, Liam and Riley, and Maureen's mother Kathy, were a dream to work with! The live on Lake Norman and had a beautiful setting next to their home for some evening photos.  We had some concerns on if the weather would hold out (rain was originally in the forecast) and to my pleasure we had a few clouds but the rain stayed away until later that evening!

One of Art's requests was that their two female Australian goodendoodles would be in the photos! These two ladies were full of energy and loved the fall leaves (especially Sadie) which got a few laughs from the family! We were able to get a few photos of the dog which is always fun when you can get the those special family members included!

The one thing that stood out to me the most from this photography session was the love this family has and came through in everything they did! In just the short time I spend with them, you can tell how much these two boys LOVE their mom and would do anything for her!! And it doesn't stop there, Maureen and her mom have such a special bond and can tell they are not only mother and daughter but great friends. Lastly, Maureen and Art, at first Art comes off as the conservative and not a huge talker but I soon realized that he has a goofy side with strategic timing (Ill keep the "supermodel" pose on the blanket in their private gallery, lol). Some of my favorite photos are with the moms and dads during my sessions, it always seems awkward when I tell them to look into each others eyes but you always get some of the best most sincere smiles and you get a glimpse of the love they have for each other and Art and Maureen did not disappoint during these photos! 

Maureen and Art, thank you for asking me to take photos of your sweet family. Your boys are so kind and will grow up to be amazing men and adults! I hope you love and treasure these photos!

Campfire & S'mores Mini Session | Braddock Family

The Braddock Family, Campfire & S'mores

It is always an exciting time to meet a new family and the Braddock's were so great and one I was happy to welcome to the KSP Family!! From the beginning I could tell that Miss Liv was not a stranger to the camera! Over and over I had to tell this family how they make my job easy being able to photograph such fun people with beautiful smiles!! 

After we got some great family photos, it was time to get warm by the fire and enjoy some s'mores! This is one of my favorite part of these mini sessions because I just get to sit back and capture this amazing family interact and just enjoy each other doing a fun activity they may not get to do very often. Tonya, Matthew and Liv were a photographers dream because they truly looked like they were making a fun memory with each other (or so I hoped)! One of my favorite moments was when Matthew burned his marshmallow and Liv thought it was the funniest thing! I truly things you can almost hear her giggles through the photo! 

Next, Tonya got out some cute hats! Nothing makes me more happy than when clients bring there own touches to add to the theme! When the hats got taken out, it really just helped set the look of the theme I had in mind!! 

Tonya and Mathew, thank you for taking the time to come to my themed mini session and I hope your photos are ones you cherish for a long time! Liv is an amazing young lady and I am sure y'all are proud of who she is becoming. I look forward to serving y'all again with your next photography needs.

Campfire & S'mores Mini Session | Idol Family

The Idol Family, Campfire, & S'mores

I have been looking forward to this day since I decided on a theme for my mini sessions this year!!   With a week and half until Nov 11th, I checked on the weather and I got into my happy dance.... it said it was going to be sunny and 57 degrees! I thought, it can't get much better than that for a session by a fire with s'mores!!!

However, about 5 days prior, the weather decided it would be a little chillier and a little more windy than I originally thought!! So my beautiful day of 57 degrees and sunny.....became 47 degrees and slightly windy!! But every single family was a trooper and enjoyed their mini session (or so i hope)!!

My first family of the day was the Idols!  Laura, Jessie and Carson were the perfect "go with the flow" family to start off a great day of mini sessions by a fire!! 

We started with a few family photos in the open field to help Carson get comfortable with the camera but I soon learned that he was a pro and I have a feeling this cutie is no stranger to turning on the charm!! 

Then it was time for the fun...... to create some s'mores! Laura and Jessie said that they wanted to make one for Carson to see how he would like it! I was excited about this because it thought it would set the stage for some great candid shoots of Carson being covered in chocolate and marshmallows! However, what I think got the best laugh out of Laura and I was watching Jessie try and master getting the marshmallow off the stick while balancing two grahamcrakers and chocolate in the other hand! He successfully created, what I am sure was, the BEST s'more Carson has ever had and not something he was willing to give up after just one bite! 

All in all it was a great way to start off a fun day of family photos, campfire, and s'mores!! 

Jessie and Laura, it was a pleasure getting to know you and your sweet son! Y'all are great parents and you can tell by Carson's demeanor that he has so much love coming his way! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture your photos and I hope it was a memorable and fun day for y'all!

Blyth Landing | Bryce's 9 Month Photos

Bryce's 9 Month Photo Session

 It might be one of the top perks of my job! When a amazing family like the Filer's purchase my First Year package and I get to photograph this little guy 5 times over the course of a year!! It is so neat to be able to see all the changes Bryce has made over the past 9 months and from here it only gets better because you get to see more of his personality is shinning through! 

For Bryce's last sessions we have done early morning because it was the easiest for his schedule but this time Gretchen and I decided to give Bryce's dad, Chad, a break from those early mornings and we were blessed with a great evening! I have been wanting to try Blyth Landing for some time but haven't had a chance and the Filers said yes (plus it is very close to their house, I think I might have gotten double brownie points from Chad!). The water on Lake Norman is low right now which made for a great opportunity to hike down the rip-raff! We were able to get on a small area that is usually under water so we were almost level with the lake and the small rocks quickly became Bryce's favorite thing! (as you can tell in this photo, he wasn't after my camera he was trying to figure out how to make his next rock selection)

When we started this session Gretchen told me that Bryce's was on the grumpier side and she was a little skeptical that we would get any of those adorable smiles! Apparently no matter how grumpy he is, daddy is always funny! With Chad behind me making all kids of noises, we were able to capture the Bryce they get to experience everyday! Once we got into a few family photos, it was all up to me to bring out those little smiles and a quick game of peak-a-boo behind the camera did the trick!! 

Gretchen and Chad, y'all are great people and I have truly enjoyed getting to know y'all in each of these sessions. It is so neat to be able to see what amazing parents y'all are in raising this happy little guy!! He is very blessed to have y'all as parents! This last photo might be one of my favorites because even though Bryce's is the one in focus, I can't help but notice the happiness and love I see between y'all! I am looking forward to Bryce's 1 year photos and can't wait to see how much he will have changed!

Emily and Jon's Mountain Weddings

When two people fall in love it seems like the whole worlds stops. And that was the case for Jon and Emily! I have known Jon for almost 10 years and was blessed to meet Emily at the beginning of their relationship. After a few years THE question was asked (even though we knew she was a keeper from day one) and the wedding began to take shape.  Jon and Emily had a day planned of a courthouse wedding so they could be legally married in the USA before they left for their beautiful destination wedding in Cancun Mexico.  However, Jon being the thoughtful guy he is, he planned a more memorable experience for his bride, a wedding at the Top of Grandfather Mountain, NC. Being on top of Grandfather Mountain you feel like you can see the east coast. The winds were blowing that day and but the sky was as blue as it could be. It could not have been a more perfect place for them to be that day. 

 When their intimate wedding started of just family and a few very close friends it was like the world stopped just to see these two!  Between her light flowing dress and his constant need to put his sunglasses on it was a perfect way to join these two families. 

It was such an honor to be able to capture this moment for Jon, Emily and their families and to not only be present as a photographer of the event but to also be there as a friend. 

Weston and I wish you both all the happiness in the world!
